Integrative Bodywork

Intention

My approach to massage is integrative and holistic. I believe that it is just as important to attend to your emotional, mental, and spiritual well being as it is to address your physical issues. During your massage, the worries of life may gently fall away as you find yourself in a lighter, more aware and peaceful state.

During the massage, tense muscles may soften, areas of pain may dissipate, range of motion may increase, and your fuller, deeper breathing may bring you to a deep place of whole-body relaxation.

It is not uncommon for emotions to arise during a massage session as healing touch can uncover both physical and emotional holdings in the body. Please know that this kind of release is normal and that you are in the company of an empathetic and caring listener.

Your First Visit

At the beginning of your first session, I will conduct a thorough intake process, which includes my review of your health intake form and a discussion of your goals for health. This is a good time to discuss stress, lifestyle, and emotional challenges, as well as physical pain and areas of tension. Together we create a massage plan—short term or long term—that addresses your unique needs.

For your first visit, expect to spend an extra 10 minutes with me prior to the massage. There is no charge for this extra time.

A Typical Session

After discussing your intentions for the massage session, I will leave the room so you may undress in private and lay comfortably on the padded massage table. A sheet and blanket are provided for draping, and I uncover only the part of the body being massaged, taking care that your modesty is respected at all times.

Based on the intention for the massage, I may incorporate a variety of modalities, including Swedish massage, deep tissue massage, energy work, acupressure, and/or aromatherapy, etc.

Every bodywork session I give involves the use of steamed towels, a few hot stones, and aromatherapy of your choice.

After the massage, I will once again give you privacy so you may get dressed. We may discuss your experience of the massage and plan for any future sessions. It is also appropriate to discuss stress-reduction strategies and/or or approaches for personal growth and overall wellness.
